Play In A Day is scheduled 9AM-5:15 PM. Registration cost is $75.
Each session culminates with a 5PM performance in a classroom space at the Missoula Children’s Theatre.

What is Play in a Day?
Play in a Day is an intensive, one-day theatre class that is held at the Missoula Children’s Theatre in Missoula, MT. The program is offered on most Missoula County Public School no school days from 9AM-5:15PM. Students rehearse and perform an original play based on a theme selected for that session. These performances are held in a classroom at Missoula Children’s Theatre and not on the MCT stage.
What is the age requirement for Play in a Day?
Students enrolled in Kindergarten through 8th Grade are eligible. Older students (12 and older) who would like to serve as an assistant can email education@MCTinc.org for availability.
How many students can participate in a session?
The program can accommodate 30 students per session.
Does my student need to have previous theatre experience to participate in Play in a Day?
Absolutely not! Students need to come with the ability to follow directions and have the emotional and physical stamina for a long (but fun!) day at MCT.
What is the typical schedule for Play in a Day?
8:45-9:00 – Check-in at MCT lobby
9:00-9:30 – Intro and Theatre Warmup
9:30-11:30 – Learn 2/3 of the play
11:30-12:00 – Lunch outside (weather permitting)
12:00-2:00 – Review, Finish learning play
2:00-3:15 – Art Class: Decorate costume pieces
3:15-3:45 – Tour of MCT facility
3:45-4:00 – Snack outside (weather permitting)
4:00-4:45 – Rehearse or Theatrical Skills Development Activities
4:45-5:00 – Audience arrives, cast focuses for performance
5:00-5:15 – Performance! Students dismissed to family and friends
Will my student be wearing a costume?
They will not be wearing a traditional costume. Every session students will create and wear a simple costume piece (e.g. a mask). Any costume pieces will be worn over student clothing.
What does my student need to bring for their class?
Students need to bring a lunch, snack, and drinks for the day (water is preferred). Due to the active nature of the class, it is encouraged that students wear tennis shoes and clothes that are comfortable.
Do I need a ticket for the performance at the end of the class?
No. Seats for the performances are available on a first come, first served basis. Seating will begin at 4:45PM for each session.
How long are the performances?
Approximately 10-15 minutes.
Is performing at the end of the day optional?
All students attending must be available to perform at the end of the day.

How much is tuition for Play in a Day?
Tuition is $78 per student, per session ($75 tuition plus a $3 processing fee).
Do you offer scholarships?
At this time, we do not offer scholarships for this program.
Is Play in a Day available to tour to my town?
Play in a Day is only offered as a class at the Missoula Children’s Theatre in Missoula, MT.
