The team was phenomenal working with the kids and building rapport. They were fun, patient, and positive. They were easy to work with and willing to make adjustments to fit our needs.

MCT is more than a theatrical production. The program and mission address all eleven character education traits. Students come away with a sense of accomplishment and pride. In 20-25 hours 60 students of varying ages and degrees of ability gel to form a unique bond with one common goal. Can’t say enough about the program.

I hope all of the MCT directors know that they are making a difference in our students’ lives even though they don’t see the smiles continue on in the next weeks, months and years. Or they don’t hear comments from our older students that say they want to look at colleges that have a strong theatre arts program. Your directors are the catalyst behind the parents that are now encouraging the powers that be that they want drama instruction all the way through high school.

The worst thing about Missoula Children’s Theatre, is that once you bring them in, you never want to bring in anything else! MCT is hard to top!

Our best example is from the season we had Rumpelstiltskin. The young man chosen for the part was a special education student. He did not have many friends or much success in school. When he got the part, everyone was so surprised and just knew he could not learn his lines. He was the first one to know all of them and played the part to perfection. What a self-esteem booster. All the kids were saying nice things to him.

Your advance materials are excellent – everything one needs to promote the show.

Do continue this awesome activity. Air force families with deployed parent members need this bright spot in their summer. Year by year we see children mature through the roles they play. It is a wonderful gift you are giving them.

One little guy, a second grader, who doesn’t have a great home life, beamed after his first show, “They clapped for us, they really clapped for us. I have never had anyone ever clap for me. That was awesome.” His eyes have never sparkled quite like they did on that night.

For the fifth year, a wheel-chair bound girl, was cast in a Missoula production. In prior years she wanted her mother to push her chair and be with her most of the time. This year she told her mother that she could take care of things herself and that mother could do something else during the rehearsals. It was such a growing experience for her as she realized friends were nearby in case of need, but she had gained much independence due in great part to the confidence she found in her Missoula participation.

It was quite evident this year that there is a need for theatre experience in our community. It was only our second year with Missoula and we had to turn away kids, and our gym was packed for both performances. Thanks for making it so convenient and easy to provide this first-class performing arts experience to communities around the world.

MCT is a strong, positive adventure for our students. Thank you so very much.

This was my third experience with MCT (first as a presenter). Each and every time, I am amazed at what MCT brings to the children in regards to confidence building, exposure to theatre, and an overall sense of achievement in the lives of young people.
