Mark Twain is known to have written, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness…….” We believe Mr. Twain would approve of the fact that the Missoula Children’s Theatre travels to every size town and city one can imagine, introducing the Tour Actor/Directors (TADs) to places that may not have been on their bucket list to visit.
There are opportunities for our teams to do a little sight-seeing; in particular, during the week of July 4th, there are only a few Residencies, due to the amount of activities taking place on U.S. Military installations and other local celebrations that can consume an entire town’s energy and excitement. The TAD’s relish the opportunity (no hot dog pun intended) to climb a mountain, swim in the ocean or a freshwater lake, visit family in-between Tour stops learn to fly fish and watch (or maybe even be IN) a local 4th of July parade.
As the summer heats up, the Little Red Trucks are rolling throughout the country, looking to enjoy your county fair, cheer on a local baseball team, and of course—try different foods (even buttery corn on the cob on a stick might be a little exotic for some). These special experiences help to broaden the minds of travelers and foster appreciation for the variety of culture that exists within our own country. Inside those Little Red Trucks are people who love to teach, but also to learn and they are up for adventures……and maybe the best hot dog in town.
