It’s been my honor and joy to be part of MCT for the past 25 years. My first experience with MCT was when my now 32-year-old son auditioned for The Wiz of the West as a kindergarten student at Florence Carlton School in the Bitterroot valley of Montana. I briefly watched the audition and was astounded by the process of casting 60 children in two hours. From being a parent of little actors, to finding the courage to audition for a community show and finally accepting an invitation to become a board member, my journey with MCT has been an important part of my life.
In my job at the Missoula International School, I witnessed the transformation of our students as they learned the art of acting, the skills of communication (the plays were in Spanish) plus their growth in confidence and belonging. As part of the board executive committee, I’ve helped to steer the company through COVID-19, the leadership transition and the process of updating the company’s mission, vision and values and strategic plan
I love being behind the scenes doing backstage tech work at MCT. My last turn was as deck manager for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. In my spare time, I bike, ski, hike and travel. I’ve played in a handbell choir for over 25 years, and I just returned from a trip to Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Qatar. My husband, Scott, and I have five grandchildren that we hope will get to experience the joy of the Missoula Children’s Theatre in the future. It’s been my honor to serve as the most recent board president, and I can’t wait to see what the next slate of leaders will accomplish.
