What inspired you to get involved with Missoula Children’s Theatre and serve on the board?

I got involved with MCT when my children were young and the red truck tour came to their schools. I was fascinated by how MCT was able to cast and perform a musical play in just one week. I joined the Board because of MCT’s mission to bring creativity and life skills to children of all ages. What a fantastic mission and vision.

How has Missoula Children’s Theatre positively influenced our community and its participants?

I think that MCT has had a profound effect on the arts in Missoula. The red truck tour is unique, there is nothing like this in the world. It’s amazing to think of the number of children in Missoula alone that have participated in a children’s show over the 50+ year history of MCT. It’s the grandchildren and maybe the great grandchildren of those who started with the company and all of them have had a local theater experience. During my career at the Missoula International School, I witnessed how performing one of the MCT shows in Spanish created such confident communicators not only in the production but in the classroom. This is what makes MCT so vital to our community-the creativity, the joy, the fun and the connection that happens in creating live theatre.

Do you have any favorite memories from your time with Missoula Children’s Theatre?

Absolutely. Every single show that I have been a part of has left an impression on me. I got to be in my first community show with my daughter in Oklahoma. The tech crew in Calendar Girls created their own calendar and the nuns in The Sound of Music have a music video. But most importantly are the friendships that I’ve made. Theater is a welcoming inclusive community, and I cherish the many friends that I have through MCT.

As a recurring donor, what motivated you to make that commitment?

I just find making a monthly commitment is easier on my budget and it allows me to prioritize my giving. I probably give more than if I was to try and write one big check. I don’t have to write a check or even think about whether I want to give this month. By giving monthly, I can also make larger additional contributions in the year.

What would you say to someone considering becoming a recurring donor?

Do it! So easy and so impactful. Your gift really counts and helps bring so much joy to children and adults in Missoula and beyond.

How do you see donor contributions directly benefiting Missoula Children’s Theatre?

I know that from being on the Board that these contributions directly help keep the costs of tickets for shows lower, the cost to attend a performing arts camp more affordable and the ability to present a red truck tour is easier. Every dollar is working to make MCT a great place to work and to create shows that excite and entertain our community.
