Michael McGill is both Executive Director and Music Director of the Missoula Children's Theatre. Beginning in 1977, the year he graduated from the University of Montana, Michael’s involvement with MCT started evolving. First as Volunteer, then a Tour Actor, moving on to Music Director, then Personnel Director and Production Department Head and finally to Executive Director. Mr. McGill composes and arranges the music for all the children’s musicals that are performed during residencies and performing arts camps and classes. He has written seven original musicals (script and score) the most recent creations are The Frog Prince, The Jungle Book, and Robin Hood. One musical, Ghost Town, was written to celebrate the Montana Centennial in 1989. The current project is The Princess and the Pea, to have its world premier in the fall of 2006. He has collaborated with other authors to compose an additional 18 shows. He is also a seasoned Stage Director most recently of The Wiz. A performer at heart, he enjoys acting (e.g., Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd) as well as conducting and playing in the pit orchestra.
