Michael McGill

Executive Director

Michael McGill has a performance degree from The University of Montana and began his association with MCT, Inc. more than thirty years ago in 1977. He has held a variety of key positions, including tour actor/director, personnel director, and music director. He became executive director of MCT in 2006 and oversees more than 140 employees who work at the home office in Missoula or tour internationally.

Michael wrote 12 original shows and 28 musical scores for MCT, and continues to write and compose a new children’s musical almost every year. One of his shows, Ghost Town, was part of Montana’s official Centennial celebration in 1989, and recent creations include The Frog Prince, The Jungle Book, Robin Hood, The Princess and the Pea, The Secret Garden, and Blackbeard the Pirate. He is currently writing Rapunzel, which will have a world premiere in Missoula in November 2011. After premiering in Missoula, Michael's shows become part of the MCT International Tour repertoire. Annually, the shows are enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people in all 50 U.S. states and in countries ranging from England to Bahrain to Japan.

Mr. McGill has directed more than 50 plays and musicals, including acclaimed productions of Oliver! in 2008 and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas in 2010 for MCT Community Theatre. He also loves to perform and has been known to get on stage in roles such as Sweeney Todd and various touring show characters from London, England to La Paz, Bolivia.

Mr. McGill served six years on the International Choral Festival board of directors and currently serves on the Missoula Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
